St. Lucia Jazz Festival is probably the most notable event on the calendar for the island. During the month of May, the worlds top jazz performers descend on the island to delight visitors with an abundance of shows, varying from formal performances to intimate late night open air and night club venues to open air picnic style events.

Performers in 2008 included Air Supply, Angie Stone, Michael Bolton and Wyclef Jean. Top artists in 2011 include John Legend so in any year you are sure to see some top artists. St Lucia Jazz Festival typically runs in the first week of May.

The main venue at Pigeon Island is a mere 7 minutes away.

There are many spectacular dive sites just off the island, ranging from easy to challenging. Most dives can be reached by boat, in addition to some great beach entry dives that are located within walking distance of Akasha. Our staff can advise on diving centers on the island having experienced many of them first hand, and can often book at discounted rates.

If diving is not your thing, then join a dive trip for a leisurely boat ride and snorkel whilst other dive, relax and eat a leisurely lunch.

Rodney Bay Marina, where most of the boats are moored, is only a 5 minute drive from Akasha.

The iconic Pitons rise majestically 771m from sea level and are designated a world heritage site. They are actually volcanic plugs. There are still sulfur springs and hot mud pools in the nearby Soufrière caldera, and visible remnants of former volcanic activity in the area.

Climbing the pitons can be a great challenge, and can be arranged by our staff with a recognised and knowledgeable local guide.

Pigeon Island from St Lucia’s Best Luxury Villa Rental

Pigeon island is a 40 acre former island that is now connected to St. Lucia’s west coast by a man made causeway. Offering many marked trails, Pigeon Island offers visitors a tour around an 18th century British Fort and also Fort Rodney, where the Admiral for which it is named, spied on the French ships from the strategic viewpoint. Pigeon Island also hosts St. Lucia Jazz Festival every year.

The land behind the villa is also a National Park and offers a short trek to the top where an old old encampment existed to spy on enemy ships. Views to Martinique are outstanding.
