St. Lucia Villa Rental - Time to Enter the 2013 ARC

Calling all sailors get your boots on its that time of the year again. The ARC is a great challenge for seasoned sailors and those who wish to become better sailors. The race across the Atlantic is becoming more popular each year and last year registration had to be closed as early as February 2012 for the 2012 race in November.

Registration is now open for you to register your boat in the race. Cruisers of all sizes are welcome to race from Las Palmas in the Canary Islands to Rodney Bay in St Lucia. The finishing line can be seen from St Lucia’s best villa – Akasha.

Last year 230 cruisers took part and to see them all coming around the corner of north St Lucia is a great sight as you can imagine what those sailors have gone thru on their journey.

So while your sat in the villa have a thought for those brave sailors who risk life and limb on this adventure – maybe you could offer to be a crew member. Alternatively you could offer to crew one of the boats back to Europe or its next destination.

When the boats do come in to Rodney Bay there are usually lots of events including free open air parties where all the sailors and non sailors come together to have a good time.

Looking further ahead there is the 2014 World ARC rally which sets off from St Lucia in January 2014. This is a longer event and definitely for the more experienced sailor.

For more details take a look at the ARC website.

So if you do fancy watching all these brave sailors cross the finish line in 2012/13 then come to St Lucia but for the best view stay at its most luxurious villa Akasha – great for families and adult friends alike.

It was awarded numerous honors—including three Grammy Award, one American Music Award and a People’s Choice Award.  If only for this achievement its worth coming to see St Lucia to see this legend.

The event has also signed a deal with Digicel who will be the main sponsors for the next three years.  The year of the Dragon has certainly got of to great start! So book your St Lucia Vacation the Akasha way and get to enjoy this music fest on your doorstep.

St Lucia has so much more than just beaches and sunshine – its where so many people want to vacation or move to.  Think about all that sunshine and constant vitamin D – no winter syndrome here.

Living Abroad approached Akasha last year and asked if we would be happy to feature in their magazine – as ever we are always happy to be featured in quality publications. Check out the magazine on Page 51.

So if you have ever dreamed about vacationing or living in paradise then this publication is for you.

Here, in St Lucia you can enjoy the rain forest, mountains, volcano and waterfalls – plus your normal paradise features like clear blue sea, golden sunsets and sunshine every day.  Oh don’t forget the local wildlife – truly amazing.

Here the climate is so good anyone can grow everything, mother nature gives it all to you on a plate.  No wonder the Arawak tribes came here.

So as you can see your Caribbean vacation in St Lucia can lead to a new way of life – what you might find in paradise.

Just announced that State-owned Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL),  is moving to widen its airlift influence on Caricom travel when it launches a daily service to St Lucia out of Port of Spain in two weeks.

This is great as this is a direct flight and will therefore mean no flying to Barbados to switch flights.  The flights are scheduled to start from Friday February 10, will be operated by the airline’s new state-of-the-art ATR-72-600 turbo prop aircraft with a 68-seat capacity.

The flight will depart Piarco International at 1.45 pm arriving at the George F Charles airport in Castries at 2.50 pm.

Following a half-hour turnaround, the return flight (BW 435) will depart St Lucia at 3.25 pm arriving in Trinidad at 4.30 pm.

Now that’s what you call a win for all concerned.  So now folks from Trinidad will find it easier to come on vacation in St Lucia and of course St Lucian folk get to visit their friends for the weekend without wasting time in the terminal in Barbados.  What is not clear is what the fares will be but lets hope that they are reasonable.

For guests from further a field this means that they can now enjoy more of the Caribbean as it improves their ability to move around when they visit the Caribbean – many tourists like to visit more than one location on their vacation.

A St Lucia Vacation can include bird watching and its not just for the ornithologists or Twitchers.

During the summer months, seabirds from Africa migrate across the Atlantic to the Maria Islands at the southern tip of St. Lucia to nest and breed.

Maria Islands (major and minor) are a great place for an up-close bird watching experience.  The rocky shores of the island can be reached in a fishing boat.  Birds will fly all around you – so many of them that even the widest camera lens will not capture a fraction of them. You might be tempted to stare up in awe with your mouth hanging open, but this is not advised. Watch out for the endless bird-dropping missiles from the sky!
A guide is recommended as they can show you many interesting things along the way, including the St. Lucia Ground Lizard which is endangered. These islands of St. Lucia are also home to the rarest snake in the world! It’s called the Kouwes, or St. Lucia Racer (and yes, it’s fast).

The island has cacti, as the island is so hot and rocky. The volcanic rock beneath your feet which is black, sucks up the heat from the sun like a frying pan.

For non regular bird watchers wherever you go you will see many of local birds everywhere, including parrots (known locally as the Jacquot Parrot) in the rain forest, play golf and you will see many of the local variety of birds such as St Lucia Pewee.

When you book your  vacation in St Lucia and stay at Akasha you have a nature park right behind the villa. So bring your binoculars or if you forget them we have some at the villa so that you can enjoy these birds in paradise close up.

St Lucia vacations recently got better – if that was possible.  Not only can you enjoy all that this paradise offers but you now can get to another super island – Mustique.

The Mustique Company launched a nonstop 25-minute flight between St. Lucia’s Hewanorra Airport and Mustique in July. The new flights are expected to improve access to Mustique from key U.S. gateways. The 18-passenger flights depart daily on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and complement existing flights between Barbados and Mustique, which operate twice daily, seven days a week.

If you want to take advantage of this opening up of the Caribbean area then we can book the flights for you when you decide to make Akasha part of your St Lucia vacation.

The Caribbean tourist market needs more initiatives like this to expand the total tourist market and this will help each island grow, create new jobs for the local communities and show the world what it has to offer.

Many of us who live in St Lucia know this is like paradise on earth and want to preserve it. So we need to make sure that we educate tourist to take nothing but happy memories and leave nothing but footprints in the sand.  That way, future generations can enjoy and see what we have seen.

The Diamond Waterfall in St Lucia does not hide any diamonds and nor are there diamonds in St Lucia. So how did this waterfall become to be named “Diamond”?

Akasha believes this waterfall got its name from the French under the rule of King Louis XVI. The French had settled in Soufriere in the 16th century. Translated from French, the name was given because of the colourful sparkle of the waterfall, similar to how diamonds refract light into all different colours. The French were in those days ruling many parts of the Caribbean.

The water which falls over these rocks starts from a boiling sulphur spring at the top of the volcano. It then runs down the mountain slope, mixing with fresh water until it pours over a dark rock, 60 feet high, creating what we call the Diamond Waterfall, now one of St. Lucia’s most well-known and characteristic attractions.

The always-changing composition of fresh water to minerals creates the varying colour effect – diamond like. The minerals include sulphur, copper sulphate, magnesium, iron, manganese and calcium, all of which paint the rock face behind in a kaleidoscope of colours. These waters are alleged to have rejuvenation and healing properties, which is why the French constructed a series of mineral baths. These were used by the French soldiers and also by Josephine, the wife of the famous, Napoleon. So you could be bathing just like a queen at the springs when you come to visit St Lucia’s Best Villa Rental. So maybe we cant make you feel like a Queen we sure can make these baths part of your St Lucia Honeymoon when you book direct with the owner.

You can visit the wonderful falls and walk through 6 acres of unimaginably beautiful garden in which you find the falls. While St Lucia’s Best Villa Rental doesn’t run to 6 acres there is the National Park (more than 6 acres) right behind the villa where you can climb to the top and take in even more spectacular views than those available from our Luxury Villa Rental.

So if you fancy being pampered while you stay at the best all inclusive villa rental in St Lucia then Akasha is for you. Our on-site team meet, greet and organise your vacation. Just let us know what you want – a trip to the Diamond falls or any of the other places and consider it done, after all this is St Lucia’s Best Villa Rental.

The Caribbean is becoming even more popular with residents of America and over the last 5 years they are realizing what a great place St Lucia is for a vacation.

This is not only due to the great people of St Lucia, and the St Lucia Tourist Board doing a wonderful job but also as the result of an increase in the number of high quality accommodation becoming available in St Lucia.  Akasha is probably the best holiday villa rental added to the accommodation stock over this period. To enjoy the best Vacation Villa Rental available directly by owners then fly here.

Flying to St Lucia from the US has also become easier with more airlines starting routes and increasing frequency of flights to St Lucia.  The airlines which fly to St Lucia from the USA at this time of the year are;

  • American Airlines, daily from Miami to Hewanorra (UVF) in Vieux Fort.  Miami has become more of a hub these days and has undergone a lot of upgrading.  We were impressed when we flew thru there this year.  There is plenty of on and off airport parking.
  • American Eagle, twice a day from San Juan’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport to George Charles Airport (SLU).  Best option for this route is to take an American Airline flight to San Juan as they interconnect their timetable (same company really).  Flying into SLU means your trip to your accommodation in the north of the island is a lot shorter.
  • Delta from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport on a daily basis plus another flight on Saturday and Sunday.  Delta come into UVF in Vieux Fort.
  • Jet Blue from JFK in New York on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, again there are extra flights on Saturday and Sunday.  Jet Blue fly into UVF in the south.  So you can fly into JFK with any airline and then hop on to the Jet Blue flight.
  • US Airways flies from Charlotte NC on a weekly basis – Saturday, into UVF in Vieux Fort.

For the current schedule you should take a look at the airline websites – see what deals you can get.  If you need assistance with finding and booking your flight then just get in contact with us and we will do all we can to help find the right flight for you.  We can help you find the right flight to create your perfect Villa Rental Vacation in the Caribbean when you book Akasha.

Guests, who book directly with the owners of the villa, are picked up at the airport by our Taxi Driver when they clear immigration so they do not need to worry about finding St Lucia’s Best Villa Rental.  For those who want to add further luxury to their Vacation at St Lucia’s Best Holiday Villa Rental our concierge service can arrange helicopter transfers from UVF airport to the north of the island.  This means your drive to Akasha is a mere 15 minutes.

If you are flying in on your own private jet then we suggest you fly into George Charles airport (SLU).   Please check that the runway is long enough to accommodate your plane as the runway at SLU is shorter than the one in UVF.  Again our driver will meet you after you clear immigration.

So when you book your vacation rental, Akasha is the perfect private villa accommodation available direct from the owners and is sure to make your Caribbean Vacation something to remember. Our all inclusive option is just the icing on the cake.

Akasha, St Lucia’s premier Holiday Villa Rental is pleased learn that a new visitor attraction was opened recently, Our Planet Centre.

This is designed to engage visitors on environmental conservation in a fun, interactive way through the use of new wave technology.

The multi-million dollar Our Planet Centre will donate all proceeds to local environmental projects, which is great news. Our Planet features the largest mirror-sphere in the world, producing a giant kaleidoscopic display for video screening; a hologram recorded specifically for St. Lucia by Prince Charles; multiple touch screen displays; a simulation hurricane room; as well as a “NASA Room” designed specifically by the NASA team to stream weather information. This is certainly the state of the art stuff, just like your Holiday Villa Rental – Akasha.

Guests who visit this attraction will learn about the island of Saint Lucia, the endangered species of St. Lucia and even the wonder of viewing the never-before-seen Castries harbor through a snowstorm with the use of snow machines. Sounds like fun.

The attraction is funded primarily by the German Government with support from other corporations including Marks & Spencer, Hilton Group of Hotels, and the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA). Our Planet Centre is located at La Place Carenage in the Castries harbor.

This is a short drive – about 20 minutes from Akasha one of the Caribbean most impressive Holiday Villa Rental available directly from the owner. Like the Rental Villa this attraction is high tech and adds to the St Lucia product by raising the bar offering visitors another experience.

So when you are booking a Holiday Villas and Akasha is your choice for Renting a Villa in St Lucia then we can arrange a trip to Our Planet Centre and combine it with a Duty Free shop – education and shopping therapy what a Luxury Villa Holiday. Combine this with our all inclusive options then Akasha should be your Holiday Villas for Rent.

For those who want the best experience in diving come to St Lucia and explore Superman’s Flight – a dramatic drift dive along the steep walls beneath St. Lucia’s Piton Mountains. This is like a cliff which falls away into unknown depths just off the shore where the world heritage Pitons are. If you are really adventurous you could try this as part of a night dive – scary or what.

For mere mortals there is always the opportunity to dive just along the beach from Akasha, St Lucia’s most luxurious villa rental. Every day you see the Sandals boat anchor just off the shore and holiday makers snorkeling below Akasha. On some nights Le Sport guests can be seen doing a night dive and it can be strange seeing lights in the dark water while you sip your glass of wine on the terraces. On other nights you will see local fishermen spear fishing at night. Usually jumping off a large rock which juts out of the water – all this free entertainment!

Whichever type of diving (or snorkeling) you prefer we can arrange it with a qualified diving school – make sure your bring your PADI certificate along. Our service includes pick up and drop off at the villa. Most of the diving schools set off from Rodney Bay Marina, a 5 minute drive from Akasha.

So stay at the most luxurious villa rental in St Lucia and dive until your heart is content. Here you will have the opportunity to go all inclusive as we can include breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rates for diving can also be made available – just let us know what you want and we will do the leg work – another reason to stay at St Lucia’s Premier Villa rental.

St Lucia Villa Rental - Akasha - Piton Hike

Oprah Winfrey is one of the most trusted people on the planet. She got President Obama elected, didn’t she? When Oprah pronounces one is easily persuaded: which is how I found myself fighting to breathe as I staggered up the ‘easy’ bit of Gros Piton, one of two extinct volcanoes (the other is Petit Piton) that shoot up out of the balmy waters of the Caribbean on St Lucia.

In Oprah’s view The Pitons are ‘one of the top five places to see before you leave this great place called earth’. Petit Piton (2461ft) requires a rope or two, but the ascent of Gros Piton (2619ft) is described as no more than tough hike. I thought if Oprah could do it – and she carries a pound or two more than me – then I could manage the two miles up and two miles down a path shaded by tropical greenery.

A path? Ha! It is an scary irregular staircase of volcanic rock and loose boulders, interspersed with ancient tree roots. It was only when we reached the half-way point – and yes the view was memorable (I think) – that our guide let slip that Oprah hadn’t actually climbed Gros Piton, just appreciated it from sea level. A puce-faced American woman from another group then stumbled into view – heading down. She’d seen what lay ahead. I bottled it, too – about a third of hikers do. There were, I reasoned, plenty of ways other than abject terror to get one’s heart rate up which was the goal of this ‘Spring Clean’ fitness venture.

Forget those risible dreams of a ‘New Year, New You’ of three months past. How rarely they are fulfilled. How quickly we lapse back into sloth. THIS is the time of year, when the clocks go forward, when warm breezes are blowing blossom hither and thither, that a physical overhaul is needed. Your summer wardrobe beckons and you don’t want it accessorised by the pot belly, flabby arms and wobbly thighs.

I decided direct action was needed. The Gros Piton climb is one of several ‘soft adventure tours’ offered by The Body Holiday where the focus is on physical fitness and mental wellbeing delivered through a comprehensive range of daily exercise classes, sporting activities, seminars on stress management and diet, therapeutic and spa treatments, and one to one counseling at Le Sport Hotel on lush St Lucia. The target market is busy individuals of all ages who want to kick start a fitness or weight loss programme, improve an existing one, or try new sports or therapies with guaranteed sunshine and beautiful surroundings as an added incentive.

Each day starts with a challenging 7am walk to wake up the metabolism and finishes with a meditation class. One need never stop moving in between. But attendance at classes and participation in activities is voluntary. I’m a veteran of fitness holidays, most of which require a high degree of physical suffering, inedible food and no alcohol. I’ve been barked at by ex-military types while yomping over rain-soaked moorland. I’ve been hauled out of a dormitory bunk bed at 5am by former PE teachers to run around a freezing barn doing star jumps. I’ve done ‘luxury’ boot camps, and ‘gourmet’ boot camps. Some worked, some didn’t; some left me hobbling in agony. What I hadn’t experienced was a boot camp for grownups, a place where no one bullies or even raises their voice; where how much or how little you do is up to you. Le Sport’s version of Butlins’ Red Coats are the Bodyguards, a bunch of chilled out fitness specialists, on hand to advise and teach when needed but who back off if your preference one day is for the beach, or a hammock in the garden. (And yes, I was ‘guilty’ of some downtime during my stay but it is surprising how disciplined one is when no one is MAKING you do anything.)

I had two goals: to make inroads into the rolls of fat around my middle, and resurrect my stalled training for my first marathon later this year. Felix, a former Mr Caribbean, who oversees the gym was my mentor – or miracle worker. One excess roll of adipose disappeared immediately when he corrected my posture (‘If you want to look old and fat, then slump.’) A schedule was devised with two or three gym sessions a day (45 minutes intense aerobic activity on treadmill, cross-trainer and bike followed by work with free weights) and then whatever classes I fancied. I dabbled in a few (spinning, Bodystretch, Bodyburn, yoga, aqua fitness, pilates) before settling on stretching and core strength classes.

When it came to diet, I expected deprivation. The breakfast menu recommended low-carb, high fibre, GI or cholesterol-busting breakfasts from the buffet, but a full English – or at least the Caribbean version – was available, too. And I discovered that if one stops agonising over what to eat, healthy choices come naturally. I snacked on walnuts and dried apricots or vitamin-rich juices during the day, ate salad for lunch and drank wanter constantly. In the evening, I dined on conservative helpings of chicken, fish, or seafood with a heap of vegetables at one of the three hotel restaurants. And instead of dessert I rejoiced in a guilt-free glass of red wine.

Did it work? I returned home half a stone lighter, definitely firmer, and with the energy and motivation to continue exercising back home. The bonus was the sense of mental well-being. Will it last? I’m hoping that my ‘spring clean’ will be a spring board to a healthier and happier summer, so bring on the marathon!

The film crew from UK have completed their shoot at Akasha St Lucia’s most Exclusive Villa Rental.

Day 4 consisted of the Jet Skiing at Reduit Beach before transferring to Choc Bay to grab some scenic shots of the beaches on the Caribbean side.  In the evening dinner and filming was at one of St Lucia’s top restaurant – Rainforest Hideaway in Marigot bay.  By all accounts they had a super dinner.

Day 5 was a little more relaxing on Pigeon Island.  Some filming on the local beach there and lunch at Jambe De Bois.  Relaxation at St Lucia Luxury Villa Rental was the order of the day in the afternoon.  Finally the Crew were able to take in some of the local night life on Rodney Bay’s version of the strip where all the bars and restaurants are – a mere 8 minutes car ride.

So on Day 6 we finally said goodbye to our guests from ITV and the Celebrity (hopefully we can let you know who it was once they give us the go ahead).  As always Earl our taxi driver delivered them safely to the airport.  Not sure if it was good news but Gatwick was open for business so they had no choice but to fly back home and leave the sun in St Lucia behind.

So the Crew have sampled some of the All Inclusive features of St Lucia’s Best Villa Rental and what the island has to offer to its visitors.

Akasha St Lucia Luxury Villa Rental is so excited to see the final results in January to get your and the audience’s reaction.

Akasha St Lucia luxury villa rental is pleased that cruise liners have sailed back into St Lucia to support the communities that were affected by Hurricane Tomas two weekends ago.

The Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) and its member lines quickly restored cruise business in the wake of the hurricane and have also shipped in humanitarian assistance for affected residents. “The quick action by the cruise lines was of enormous help for us and underscored the huge value of tourism to our recovery efforts,” Prime Minister Stephenson King, thanking the Florida-based trade organization for its support of his country’s cruise industry.

Most of St Lucia’s attractions have reopened and, on Sunday, both Holland America’s Noordam and P & O Oceana brought thousands of passengers who were able to experience some of them. They also brought 200 tonnes of water along with clothing, food, furniture, mattresses, sheets and blankets which were distributed to needy communities by the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) and the St Lucia Red Cross.

Akasha villa rental is also pleased that the air industry is also doing its bit, tourism got a boost over the weekend with the arrival of JetBlue Airways, American Airlines/American Eagle, Air Canada, Delta Air Lines, British Airways, among other carriers. They are bringing in many tourist to boost St Lucia’s economy which it badly meeds given the damage to the banana crop. The international and regional carriers landed at both the Hewanorra International Airport and George F.L. Charles Airport. So both airports are now open and functioning.

“Tourism is our lifeblood, and we are grateful to our regional and international partners for the confidence they have placed in St Lucia. By returning so quickly, they are assisting the nation recover in the aftermath of the storm,” asserted Minister of Tourism, Senator Allen Chastanet.

St Lucia needs the tourists even more than before and we at Akasha St Lucia’s most exclusive villa rental will be doing our best to help our fellow St Lucians and encouraging even more tourists to come to this beautiful island.

Akasha has only been available for luxury villa rental for the last 10 months and has done well but like the rest of global economy St Lucia tourism has suffered from the recession over the last few years.   However, according to some experts things are looking up and will help St Lucia recover.   This is the message from leading lights in the industry.  Below is an article sent out by Caribbean 360.  Italics are our comments.

LONDON, United Kingdom, Monday November 8, 2010 – Three experts on tourism trends in the United Kingdom and Europe have painted an optimistic picture of the British market for the Caribbean tourism sector in 2011, despite challenges such as the Air Passenger Duty (APD) which saw another increase take effect this month.  APD is such an imposition on holiday makers and has a negative impact for small businesses like Akasha luxury villa rentals.

A panel of media and industry practitioners concluded that the worst is over for the global economy and that the Caribbean region can look forward to an improved performance next year.

“The global recovery has begun,” John Taker, the purchasing director for Virgin Holidays told dozens of Caribbean tourism ministers, directors and private and public sector officials gathered at the London offices of the Daily Telegraph for the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) European Marketing Forum.  Many of our high end clientèle fly Virgin who have increased flight to St Lucia.

Taker added that there was a clear opportunity to grow the family travel market for the Caribbean, pointing out that price was a more important consideration for consumers booking a Caribbean holiday than it was for holidays to destinations like the United States.  Families are well come to Akasha St Lucia’s most exclusive villa rental with so much to do at Akasha.

While admitting that the APD “is a punishment that the Caribbean will have to live with for a very long time”, Graham Boynton, the Daily Telegraph’s travel editor, said there was hope for the region.

“While ultra long-haul is still suffering from the effects of the recession, medium long-haul is seeing recovery (and) the Caribbean is doing relatively well when compared to (other regions). The Caribbean is doing better than Australia…it is doing better than South Africa,” Boynton told delegates.  By adding to the quality of the St Lucia product Akasha villa rental is doing its bit to increase the appeal of St Lucia to a bigger market.  We believe that St Lucia will over take Barbados in the long term as a destination of choice.

However, he advised, there was a need for Caribbean destinations, individually and collectively, to communicate the realities of the region in a more dynamic manner.

Meanwhile, Daniel Pearce, editor of the travel trade magazine, TTG, unveiled exclusive research which painted a confident picture from British travel agents. The research revealed that two out three agents felt the reputation of the Caribbean had increased in the past year, and half the travel agents surveyed said they expected sales to the Caribbean to increase in 2011.  We at Akasha villa rental are seeing more and more interest from our UK agents.

This year’s CTO European Marketing Forum has as its theme: “2011, A Year of Opportunity or Threat?” The annual event is held as a precursor to the tourism trade show, World Travel Market (WTM).

If you want to play golf we would suggest you bring some extra balls along as the course is rather difficult and it’s all too easy to lose them. A famous golfer once said “don’t forget to smell the roses on the way round” well here you should also take some deep breaths because the air is so pure and clear. From all over the course you will get super views of the Atlantic and Caribbean Sea and from certain advantage points you will see your home for this vacation – Akasha the best St Lucia luxury villa rental on the island.

The course is a par 71 and 6685 yards and has plenty of challenging holes. Power carts are mandatory. The club house is a large warm and friendly place – there are changing rooms and showers available. The pro shop also offers duty free shopping as well as the customary club and shoe rentals. Power carts are mandatory – and trust us you will appreciate them by the end of the round. The green fees here are much more reasonable when compared to the likes of Barbados. If you want a lesson then there is a pro available but if you here during the high season seek out “Regis” – the best golf coach on the island, in my opinion.

It is hard to pick one hole which is a favourite – they are so well designed around the topology of the local landscape. My top four are:
• 5th Which is a tricky blind dog leg left, don’t over hit your tee shot or you are in trouble. The second shot to the downhill green requires the accuracy of a sharp shooter.
• 7th The most difficult hole on the course, not only because it’s long but there is OB on the right and trees down the left. Some locals will even play for the fairway (4th hole) coming up the other side to avoid trouble. Take care as the fairway slopes right to left and there is the strong Atlantic wind in your face. But the view out from the tee is awesome and sometimes you can see a ship sailing over the horizon towards St Lucia.
• 11th A downhill with water to the front of green. Watch for the glory hole on the right hand side by the bunker – this is big trouble if you end up here. Again the view from the tee is incredible, this time over the Caribbean Sea.
• 15th Another great view out to the Caribbean sea from the tee and is a deceptive downhill – be warned the green always runs right to left, your eyes will be deceived. Take care not to be too far right otherwise your ball may just end up in the back of a local truck heading in to Rodney Bay!

After playing why not stay and have a few Piton beers on the large expansive terrace which overlooks the 18th hole. The club house also offers good quality food including local St Lucian dishes like salt fish and broth. If you are there during a tournament you can get to play in them as the members always welcome guests to join in.

Our suggestion is you should play as early in the morning as you can – course is open from dawn, my favourite time is 7.00am. Our Concierge Manager will book a tee off time for you and drop you off or call the shuttle from the course to pick you up. We would also recommend you take a few bottles of water to stay hydrated – again our Manager will pack those for you (and if you insist a few beers).

There are also two 9 hole courses on the island but in comparison to the St Lucia Golf course in our opinion do not compare. Two other 18 hole courses are being built but at the moment these projects are effectively on hold. As soon as they are completed and playable we will let you know.

The 2010 Jazz festival in St Lucia promises to as exciting as ever and staying at the most luxurious villa is the ultimate experience. The island is sparing no effort to attract some of the best talent in the music industry. I have pulled together the various sites to check out to help you decide which events you want to attend – enjoy the experience. A Grammy festival would be a better title for the event as it includes no less than 5 award winners.

During the festival the villa rentals tend to get booked early so check out the local accommodation before it’s too late. Check out the best villa rental on the island: http://www.stlucia.cc.

The top artists who have a Grammy include:

Toni Braxton. Check out her web site for a flavour of her great sound: www.tonibraxton.com
Her hits include – You’re making me high, Un-break my heart, Yesterday.

Shaggy who has been around forever and whose silky smooth voice is being used on some GPS systems!! But we know it wasn’t him. Check out this site: www.shaggyonline.com

Ne-Yo, is a great male vocalist. Check out www.macys.com/ne-yo his song “Heroes” which is available for free download.

Most of the top artists will be able to see Akasha villa rental from back stage at Pigeon Island. We are sure they would be impressed if they rented our villa. So if you fancy renting a villa overlooking the stage you may want to think about renting Akasha the luxury villa rental.

In addition there are many other top class artists. These include: Laura Izibor, a self taught musician born to Irish mother and Nigerian father who has won the Meteor Music award. Check out her sound: www.lauraizibor.com

Quito & the Edge who are reggae with attitude, check out their MySpace: www.myspace.com/quitoandtheedge

No doubt the artists will be booking in to the best villa – so if you want to rent a villa before the artists the take a look at www.stlucia.cc there is nothing better on the island.

Choosing a villa in St Lucia can be difficult – most of the villas tend to be traditional and not offer the kind of facilities most modern travellers expect. Akasha has features that no other villa rental has. We have a dedicated air conditioned home theater for 9 people to relax in reclining leather chairs to watch the jazz on a 110 inch screen if you don’t fancy trekking to the event(s).

Our St Lucia villa rental is less than 5 minutes from Pigeon Island and the Gaiety theater where most of these top artists will be performing. When you are done there the main restaurants and bars are only a 5 minute ride away from our villa rental.
